    Last Day of School - Early Dismissal

    Friday, June 2, is the last day of school for students and is an early dismissal day! Elementary students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m.

    5th Grade Matriculation and Picnic

    On Thursday, June 1, the 5th grade Matriculation ceremony will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. in the gym. It will be followed by the 5th grade picnic from Noon-3:00 p.m.

    Greenwood Mill's Field Day will be held on Tuesday, May 30. We will also be celebrating our 4th Quarter House accomplishments on Field Day.

    Yearbooks

    Students that have already purchased Yearbooks will receive them on Tuesday, May 23. We do have a limited number of extra yearbooks that we will be selling on Thursday, May 25 in the office.

  • FCPS Names Three New Administrators

    Frederick County Public Schools Superintendent George Hummer has announced three administrator changes that will take effect on July 1. Dr. Tara Woolever has been named the new principal of James Wood Middle School, Karen McCoy has been named the new principal at Sherando High School and Alyssa McKee has been named assistant principal at James Wood High School.

    Season of Celebration and Success

    Starting today and continuing through May 29, Frederick County Public Schools is inviting students, parents, teachers and staff to share their celebrations and successes from the 2022-23 school year as part of the “FCPS Season of Celebration and Success.”

  •  2023-24 School Calendar

    School Board Approves Changes to 2023-24 School Calendar

    At the School Board meeting last night, the Board approved changes to the 2023-24 school calendar. Changes include making August 14 a Transition Day. The Transition Day will be the first day of school for students entering kindergarten, 6th grade and 9th grade. The first day of school for all other students will be August 15. Other changes include adding two additional days (August 2 and 3) for new professional staff orientation as well as adding November 6 and February 16 as days off for all employees.
