2024 Senior Portrait Information
Senior formal yearbook portrait session A is July 10-13. Only Victor O’Neill Studios portraits are allowed in the JWHS yearbook. Seniors must make an appointment. Due to construction on the JWHS campus, Senior Portraits will be taken at Apple Pie Ridge Elementary School.

Congressional Art Competition Winners
We want to congratulate Junior, Tyson Robertson, on winning our District's Congressional Art Competition with his painting "Otis." We would also like to congratulate Addison Harvey and Anna Hester on being selected as Runners Up in the Congressional Art Competition.

Immunization Clinic
Frederick County Public Schools, in collaboration with the Frederick/Winchester Health Department, is offering an Immunization Clinic on Tuesday, June 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the James Wood Middle School Cafeteria.

Summer Apex Programs 2023
James Wood High School will be offering courses for credit recovery this summer through Apex. Applications will be accepted online via the James Wood High School website beginning May 30, with a deadline of noon on June 22.

Season of Celebration and Success Stories
Thank you to everyone who took time to share a celebration or success during this year's Season of Celebration and Success.

FCPS Names Three New Administrators
Frederick County Public Schools Superintendent George Hummer has announced three administrator changes that will take effect on July 1. Dr. Tara Woolever has been named the new principal of James Wood Middle School, Karen McCoy has been named the new principal at Sherando High School and Alyssa McKee has been named assistant principal at James Wood High School.

School Board Approves Changes to 2023-24 School Calendar
At the School Board meeting last night, the Board approved changes to the 2023-24 school calendar. Changes include making August 14 a Transition Day. The Transition Day will be the first day of school for students entering kindergarten, 6th grade and 9th grade. The first day of school for all other students will be August 15. Other changes include adding two additional days (August 2 and 3) for new professional staff orientation as well as adding November 6 and February 16 as days off for all employees.
