    Frederick County Public Schools, in collaboration with the Frederick/Winchester Health Department, is offering an Immunization Clinic on Tuesday, June 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the James Wood Middle School Cafeteria.

    New Varsity Football Coach

    2001 Sherando High School graduate T.J. Rohrbaugh has been named Sherando's new varsity football coach. Effective July 1, Rohrbaugh will be returning to coach and teach physical education at his alma mater after serving the past two years at Millbrook High School as assistant coordinator of student activities (2021-22) and coordinator of student activities (2022-23).

  • FCPS Names Three New Administrators

    Frederick County Public Schools Superintendent George Hummer has announced three administrator changes that will take effect on July 1. Dr. Tara Woolever has been named the new principal of James Wood Middle School, Karen McCoy has been named the new principal at Sherando High School and Alyssa McKee has been named assistant principal at James Wood High School.

  •  2023-24 School Calendar

    School Board Approves Changes to 2023-24 School Calendar

    At the School Board meeting last night, the Board approved changes to the 2023-24 school calendar. Changes include making August 14 a Transition Day. The Transition Day will be the first day of school for students entering kindergarten, 6th grade and 9th grade. The first day of school for all other students will be August 15. Other changes include adding two additional days (August 2 and 3) for new professional staff orientation as well as adding November 6 and February 16 as days off for all employees.
