    The 2022-23 School Calendar has been amended to add three days to Spring Break which will begin on Friday, April 7 and continue through Sunday, April 16

    For the 10th consecutive year, the Association of School Business Officials International has recognized Frederick County Public Schools with a Meritorious Budget Award.

  • FCPS On-Time Graduation Rate Exceeds the Average State Rate for the 10th Consecutive Year

    For the 10th consecutive year, Frederick County Public Schools’ on-time graduation rate exceeds the state’s average on-time graduation rate. According to the Virginia Department of Education, the on-time graduate rate for members of Frederick County Public Schools’ Class of 2022 was 94.6 percent compared to Virginia’s on-time graduation rate of 92.1 percent. It is also the fourth consecutive year the school division’s on-time graduation rate has climbed. 

  • Ben ThompsonNew Principal Named for Dowell J. Howard Center

    Ben Thompson has been named the new principal at the Dowell J. Howard Center.  He succeeds Jan Ball-Brooks who recently accepted a position in Danville after serving as the principal at the Dowell J. Howard Center since July 2009. 

  • AccreditationAll Frederick County Public Schools Accredited for 2022-23

    The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has announced each of Frederick County’s public schools has been accredited for 2022-23.  This year marks the first time in three years the VDOE has released school accreditation ratings.  As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and its unprecedented impact on school operations, school accreditation was waived for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic years.

    Frederick County Public Schools has been awarded $10,793,768.89 in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief lll (ESSER lll) funding.
