Indian Hollow Elementary School Repairs

Indian Hollow Elementary School

General Information

The Indian Hollow Elementary School Exterior Wall Remediation and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) Replacement first appeared on the School Board’s 2022-2026 Capital Improvements Plan. The total project cost is $12,020,000. The project is being completed to address issues related to moisture getting into the exterior walls of the school, which has resulted in water damage to the exterior and interior of the building as well as humidity issues inside some classrooms. The situation is complicated by the fact that the school’s existing HVAC system is at the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced with a system that meets today’s American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers’ standards, including dehumidification.

Project Status

The project is substantially complete. Only a few details remain to be done.

Project Scope

In addition to addressing moisture issues affecting the exterior and interior of Indian Hollow Elementary School and keeping them from happening again, the project included the following:

  • Replacing the school’s HVAC system
  • Installation of new, larger windows to provide more natural light in classrooms
  • Replacing the existing acoustical ceiling throughout the building
  • Replacing the school’s outdated lighting system with energy-efficient LEDs
  • Repainting the entire interior of the school
  • Replacing exterior hex block with brick

The project also included changes to enhance safety and security at Indian Hollow Elementary School by:

  • Replacing all exterior entrance doors with doors that include a secured access system
