  • The School Board believes that the existence of good communications between the School Board and the public is essential to the development and success of Frederick County Public Schools. The School Board is committed to maintaining open lines of communications with all segments of the community, including parents, students, employees, boards and agencies, businesses, civic organizations, and other stakeholders as well as with media.

In order to achieve this goal, the School Board authorizes and directs the Superintendent to promote cooperative community communications by providing timely information about the programs and activities of Frederick County Public Schools and encouraging media coverage. Media coverage should be coordinated through the FCPS Policy and Communications Office in a manner consistent with the orderly, safe functioning and supervision of the schools during school-day operations. For purposes of this policy and any implementing regulations, “school-day operations” include school-based activities or events (curricular, extra-curricular, co-curricular, and athletic) which are not specifically designated or regarded by school officials as open to the general public.

The Superintendent also is authorized to promulgate regulations to implement this policy.
