411P - Withdrawal from School

  • Any pupil who can no longer benefit from an education may, regardless of age, be excused from attendance as provided in the Code of Virginia.

Before the school board will consider a recommendation to this end, it must be assured by means of written and verbal testimony that the administration and staff have explored every possible avenue of assistance for the pupil. The board shall also be satisfied that this action is for the good of the school and the pupil.

Students who have been legally excused from school by the school board and who later desire readmission in the same school year must seek the approval of the superintendent before being readmitted.

If a student is readmitted the following year after withdrawal, the student must participate in a reentry conference and enter into a conditional-return agreement.
