Mikayla Grumbacher, Special Education Teacher

Ms. Grumbacher is an exceptional special education teacher whose selfless dedication transforms the lives of students far beyond her own classroom walls. Driven purely by a desire to see every child succeed, she generously gives her own time to tutor students—including those in other buildings who she does not know—focusing on targeted Algebra I SOL remediation to help them clear their final hurdles to graduation. Her approach highlights what students can do, replacing self-doubt with confidence through positive encouragement and tailored, accessible instruction. She expects nothing in return, yet her patience, accessibility, and unwavering belief in her students' potential leave a lasting impact across our entire school community. Ms. Grumbacher has helped numerous students over the past two years earn their diploma, while embodying the core values of Ignite 2030, a community that believes every child deserves educators who are child-centered, lead with compassion, collaborate with purpose, and demonstrate unwavering commitment and conscientiousness in all we do.
