Champions for Kids - September 25, 2026

Champions for Kids, our weekly staff recognition program, is designed to celebrate the dedication and extraordinary efforts of our classified and licensed staff members.

Read more about this week's recipients.

Michele Strachan, Special Instructional Assistant

Michele is truly a rockstar and the definition of a Champion for Kids! She has built incredible connections with her students, creating a safe and loving environment where they feel valued, supported, and genuinely excited to come to school each day. The love her students have for her is undeniable—they miss her terribly anytime she is absent or needed elsewhere in the building. This year, Michele has been pulled in countless directions to support students and staff and help put out fires throughout the building, yet she continues to show up with patience, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to every child who needs her. Michele is amazing beyond words, and the impact she makes on our students and our school community makes her incredibly deserving of this recognition.

Greg Gaynor, Special Education Teacher

Patient, steadfast, and deeply dedicated, Mr. Gaynor is a true Champion for Kids. He advocates tirelessly for his students by recognizing their individual strengths and meeting them where they are to build both academic knowledge and practical life skills. Through creative peer collaboration, he brings learning to life—most notably by launching the student-run Coffee Cart. This initiative not only provides a wonderful service to our staff, but also equips his students with essential job skills, communication tools, and confidence for the future.
