Sun Meals Summer Meals

Frederick County Public Schools is excited to offer the Sun Meals program this summer! Sun Meals provides free weekly meal kits to children ages 0-18. Eligibility is not based on income and all families are welcome to participate, even if you do not live in Frederick County or have students attending Frederick County Public Schools.

Registration is recommended to ensure enough meal kits are available.  Meal kits will consist of 7 days of shelf-stable breakfast and lunch items. A gallon of milk will also be provided with the weekly meal kit that is picked p at Middletown or Indian Hollow. 

Participation will help us grow the program in the future and ensure that all the children in our community have access to meals during the summer months. 

Pick Up Locations (June 3 - July 29)

  • Indian Hollow Elementary
  • Middletown Elementary
  • Apple Pie Ridge Elementary (Only from July 8-29)

Pick Up Dates and Times

Meal kits can be picked up on the following dates between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

June 10: Summer Meal Registration (6/10/26)
June 17: Summer Meal Registration (6/17/26)
June 24: Summer Meal Registration (6/24/26)
July 1: Summer Meal Registration (7/1/26)
July 8: Summer Meal Registration (7/8/26)
July 15: Summer Meal Registration (7/15/26)
July 22: Summer Meal Registration (7/22/26)
July 29: Summer Meal Registration (7/29/26)

Summer School Meal Information

Students participating in summer school at Apple Pie Ridge and Evendale elementary schools will receive breakfast and a snack each day they are in attendance.

Daily Meal Schedule

  • Breakfast: 8:00 a.m.
  • Snack: 10:00 a.m.

Any child is eligible to attend the above meal times in person and enjoy a sit-down meal, even if you are not attending summer school. If your child(ren) has breakfast and snack at a summer school location, they are not eligible for a 7-day meal kit.

To help cover meals on days when summer school is not in session, 3-day meal kits will be provided to each summer school student.

Additionally, students attending summer school at Apple Pie Ridge or Evendale will have 5-day meal kits available for pick-up on:

  • June 2 between Noon and 1 p.m.

While these meal kits are designated for Apple Pie Ridge and Evendale summer school students, any family is welcome to pick up a 5-day meal kit.
