FCPS Virtual Academy

The mission of the FCPS Virtual Academy is to empower every learner by fostering meaningful, rigorous virtual educational experiences that enable students to confidently shape their futures in an ever-changing world. We envision an environment where students are equipped to succeed in a digital landscape and lead lives of which they are proud. FCPS is dedicated to providing high-quality instruction and ensuring every student reaches their full potential. 

2026-27 Enrollment & Eligibility

Please review the specific criteria for the upcoming school year carefully:

• For the 2026-27 enrollment cycle, the Virtual Academy is exclusively available to students in 9th -12th grade who were home-instructed or attended a private school during the 2025-26 school year
• There are only 25 slots available for this academic year

Application & Selection Process

To be considered for one of the 25 available positions, candidates must complete a two-step evaluation process:

• Written Application: Complete and submit the Virtual School Academy Application & Selection Survey. 
• Interview: Upon review of the application, an interview will be scheduled with the selection committee to discuss the student's readiness for a virtual learning environment.

Required Application Components

A complete application requires the following elements:

• Student Readiness Self-Assessment: A review of learning habits, technology skills, and home environment.
• Short Answer Responses: Questions regarding motivation and persistence, to be completed by the student independently.
• Program Commitment: Acknowledgment of attendance requirements, in-person state testing (SOLs), and academic standards.
• Academic History: A copy of recent transcripts or academic records.

Timeline

• Application Window - June 11 - 23, 2026
• Review & Interviews - June 15 - 25, 2026
• Acceptance Letters Mailed - June 30, 2026
• Base School Registration and Virtual Virginia Enrollment - July 1 - 21, 2026
• Classes Begin - August 13, 2026
