NCMEC Partnership

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children

Frederick County Public Schools is proud to announce its new designation as a Community Education Partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). FCPS is honored to be the first public school division in the United States to establish this partnership, reflecting the division’s unwavering commitment to student safety and proactive education.

Schools Superintendent Dr. George Hummer said, “The safety and well-being of every student is our highest priority. By partnering with NCMEC, we are taking a significant step toward equipping students, educators and families with the knowledge and tools to help prevent exploitation and ensure students in our community are safe.”

Through this partnership, FCPS will have access to NCMEC’s Netsmartz and Kidsmartz curriculum, resources and training materials. KidSmartz is an abduction prevention program designed for students in grades K–5, promoting essential safety skills in an age-appropriate way. Netsmartz provides internet safety education for students ages 5–17, teaching them how to navigate digital spaces responsibly and safely.

Families and community members can expect to see expanded outreach efforts, workshops and classroom lessons integrated throughout the school year as FCPS continues to build a stronger framework for student well-being.
