Stephanie Reed Named Principal of Redbud Run Elementary School

At the February 6 Frederick County School Board meeting and public hearing, Superintendent Dr. George Hummer introduced Stephanie Reed as the new principal of Redbud Run Elementary School. Reed, who has served as the assistant principal since 2016, will take over from Joseph Strong, who was named the FCPS Assistant Director of Student Support Services in October.

Stephanie Reed was thrilled to be named the next principal of Redbud Run Elementary School. “I was honored to be selected as the next principal of Redbud Run,” Reed said. “I love the relationships I already have with the kids, teachers and families, and I can’t wait to continue to build these relationships in a different role.”

Reed is committed to helping all of her students become lifelong learners and making Redbud Run a safe, exciting place. “I can’t wait to watch our students grow and become leaders in our community,” she said.

Stephanie Reed brings 26 years of experience in elementary education to her new role as principal. Ms. Reed earned a bachelor’s in elementary education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, a master’s in elementary education from Old Dominion University and a post-master’s certificate in educational leadership and administration from The George Washington University.

Reed’s husband, Jeff, is a teacher at Aylor Middle School. The couple has a daughter, Madison, who is a senior at Sherando High School and will attend Randolph Macon College next year to swim and major in nursing. In her spare time, Reed enjoys traveling with her husband to their daughter’s swim meets and investing time in the swim community.
