March is Youth Art Month, a time to celebrate children and their art! Why is art important?
Art promotes language skills when children look at and discuss artworks. Making art builds fine motor skills and fosters a sense of accomplishment. It allows children to express ideas, thoughts, and feelings in a visual way with a variety of processes and media. Learning about artists from many cultures and time periods teaches empathy and creates connections to our own time and place. And best of all, art isn’t just for children--art is for everyone!
Please take a moment this month to encourage a young artist that you know.
