Millbrook High School Cheerleading Coach Resigns

Millbrook High School’s Cheerleading Coach Dawnette Bowers has resigned after serving a total of 12 years in the role. Bowers has served as Millbrook’s cheerleading coach on three different occasions. She was the coach from the time the school opened in 2003 until 2006 and again in 2008.Her most recent tenure began in 2013. She is stepping down to focus her attention and time on her family.

Bowers’ competition cheer teams won conference championships in 2014, 2015 and 2016. The 2016 team also captured the regional championship and finished fourth in the state championship.

In addition to coaching Millbrook’s cheerleading teams, Bowers has also served as the school’s head girls’ tennis coach (2014-2018) and as an assistant track and field coach.

Millbrook High School Coordinator of Student Activities Scott Mankins says, “We appreciate all that Coach Bowers has done for our athletic programs over the years, particularly our cheer program which enjoyed great success under her leadership. Coach Bowers exemplifies what it means to put students first and has been a strong role model for the many student-athletes she has worked with over the years.”
